Think about it this way: if someone makes a cleaning product and it's the only cleaning product on the market, you will have some dissatisfied customers. The same reason a competitor manufactures the same product as someone else - because there is more that can be done with it.įor some, like Toontown Stride, they were simply fan-made side projects that wanted to bring about a number of community suggestions and quality of life improvements that ended up becoming something much, much greater in scope.įor others, like Toontown Infinite, they felt dissatisfied with the manner in which Toontown Rewritten was being ran (both in game restoration philosophy and administration), so they created an alternative for those who also shared that same opinion. If a team wants to "remake the game" in their own way, why not let them? TL DR People have ideas and ideas are good. Patience is key here, and the status quo isn't set in stone. To date, no servers can really hold a candle to TTR, but that isn't to say there won't ever be a server that can. This community is very fragile, and even the slightest slip-up can turn players away from a server. Toontown Stride (and hopefully Toontown Infinite) have taken their time to carefully and meticulously sort through ideas and implement the better ones. Servers like Fellowship and Next have ultimately failed because they have poorly executed new additions, spastically trying to attract new players. What I would consider to be a healthy addition to the "Toontown Market" so to speak are servers willing to try something new and do it right. More servers that do exactly that are not "healthy" additions to the community. The Rewritten team has been kind enough to rebuild the core game we know and love, and they maintain it better than any other server out there. I would agree that this community is too saturated by TTR-esque servers. People just need to play their cards right and be tenacious. All I really think is that there's room enough for two servers, and there's an opening available. Stride might be that server, it might not. I suppose people are just waiting for the "new" toontown server to come up. They did have a decent following though, if I recall correctly. sort of "nice" example of two servers existing at once, but for them everything that could have possibly gone wrong, did. It can't really be a niche concept either, like Apex was (I believe?). I wouldn't mind seeing an "old" toontown, and a "new" toontown coexisting. Toontown is an old game, and it can always be improved. One that encapsulates the original TTO, and one that makes a bunch of healthy radical changes that it can be classified as a different experience. It's true that the toontown community isn't huge, but the way I see it, it can probably stretch nicely over two games. But that's not really within the scope of this discussion. How well they do is based off a lot of things. I suppose it's not necessary to have multiple servers.
